I’ve been thinking about this relationship I have with you, Mr. Covid. I think it’s time to break up. And it’s definitely You, not Me. Those friends who are ready to join me, have I got some date night ideas for you!
For my friends who are not yet ready to cut the ties, see the link at the end of the page for now and bookmark these ideas for later.
Some of us, I know, are barely holding on to our relationship at this point. This past year has been tough, right? I’ll share another link at the end of the page. It’s just for you.
Are you ready to wear lipstick so others can actually see it? Show off some new clothes?
I call these my “Breaking Up With Mr. Covid Date Night Ideas.”
There are 19 of them, naturally.
- Enjoy a concert. And if you want to hold your iPhone up recording the whole thing, go for it. The rest of us will still wonder why you don’t just watch it on YouTube instead, but that’s OK.
- Travel. Pack ya bags!
- Go to a sporting event in a packed stadium.
- Go to a sold-out movie and eat movie theater popcorn — why does it taste better there?
- Scream on a roller coaster.
- Do weird stuff. (Just not that strange Hello elbow bump thing, OK?) I’m going to this extraordinary place in my city. It’s the home of an artist. He’s made it into this beautiful and unique museum using paints, plants, plastic animals, yard sale finds, and discarded construction materials. Try googling “hidden gems in (your city)” or “cool and unusual things to do in (your city).” Pick 1 or 10 and go for it.
- Indulge in a bottomless brunch with the masses.
- Act like a tourist in your hometown and see all the usual sites.
- Laugh your butt off at a comedy show. We already have tickets to see Brian Regan. I hope he pulls out his classic bit about pop tarts.
- Get a couple’s massage.
- Take a class together. Cooking? Yoga? Acting? Mixology? I can go all night with these date night ideas, folks.
- Taste wine at a vineyard or winery.
- Sing karaoke.
- Eat inside a restaurant without worrying. Our fave thing to do is google “Best Places to Eat in (your city).” Pick one you’ve never been to, put it in the GPS, and go! Or, now more than ever, you might want to go to a favorite you haven’t visited in a long while. Did I say “now more than ever?” I sincerely apologize. That phrase and “in these unprecedented times” must be forever banned.
- Go dancing.
- Do a food truck tour.
- Take in some culture like a gallery opening, museum or lecture.
- Run a race.
- Plan a date night surprise!
I hope you found some you like. I’d love to hear your date night ideas!
Our situation is very fluid, and if you’re looking for ideas that involve more social distancing, I’ve got you covered, friend. Try these!
