Meet Lori

“Hey, get a room.”

My husband Bobby and I have heard this playful remark countless times over our 35+ years of marriage. Despite being a modest woman who avoids public displays of affection, people often notice something special about our relationship.

Curious about what prompts these comments, I asked some friends. One described our love as “profoundly affectionate.” Another said, “It’s in a class by itself.” A third remarked that our love is something he’s never seen before, and it inspires him.

I’m not a psychologist, counselor, therapist, or academic. But over the years, I’ve learned a few things. People in struggling relationships yearn for more intimacy and love, while those in great relationships seek tips to improve. Both groups have come to me for advice. I don’t have all the answers, but I do have some insights to share.

When I decided to start blogging, I wondered how I could help people without directly hearing their struggles. So, I chose to tell stories. I share what has worked for Bobby and me, providing context so you can decide if our experiences might help you.

Everyone has a source of truth they turn to for answers. I’m a Jesus follower. And in the pages of the Bible, I’ve found practical solutions for today’s problems. It’s smart, real, and well – it works for us!

As Proverbs 12:15 says, “Fools are headstrong and do what they like; wise people take advice.”

Imagine us sitting down with a cup of coffee, just chatting. That’s the vibe I aim for in my writing. It’s okay if you don’t agree with me—please comment, and we’ll figure it out together.

About Us

By day, I lead Quality and Continuous Improvement for one of the world’s top Facilities Management companies. It’s quite different from being a quasi-relationship counselor, I know, but it’s a job I love and appreciate.

My husband, Bobby Martin, is a professional race car driver. We spent years traveling the country with our Top Alcohol Funny Car, took a break for a few years, but are making our comeback this year! It’s so much fun! Among other things, I pack the parachutes—some say that’s why he’s so sweet to me. 😊 Besides racing, Bobby is a motivational speaker and serves as Vehicle Specialist for a company that sells collector cars in Pittsburgh.

In our free time, Bobby plays the electric guitar, and I love to sing. My favorite music genres are the blues and Christian contemporary. Some might find that mix a bit odd, but I don’t. One is about searching, and the other is about finding. My blog covers both.

Thanks for stopping by!

We’ve been blessed to stand together in the Winner’s Circle. Thank you, God.

Thank you, Jan! I have always appreciated your friendship and support. By the way, you will go down in my own personal history as having commented the very first time on my blog. I have always been interested in discovering for myself how to be the very best wife possible, and I’m hoping that through this interaction with others, I will learn a lot, too.

I always appreciate your advice and your humility – the two do not often go together! It is so refreshing to talk to someone who is so affirming of me and my relationship.
